PTCL and Telenor Pakistan signed Fiber Leasing Agreement


Fiber Leasing AgreementFor the second consecutive year, PTCL and Telenor Pakistan have signed the Fiber Leasing Agreement, a fiber back-haul and infrastructure sharing agreement.

Enabling delivery of quality communication services for Pakistan’s market, PTCL, according to the agreement will deliver more than 950 kilometers of fiber footprint to Telenor Pakistan.

Since PTCL has an extensive nationwide fiber optic footprint and they are experts when it comes to deployment, operations and maintenance of a fiber optic network, Telenor Pakistan’s agreement involves to utilize PTCL’s fiber optic network.

The agreement signing ceremony was held at PTCL Headquarters and Dr. Daniel Ritz, President & CEO, PTCL and Irfan Wahab Khan CEO of Telenor signed the agreement. PTCL signed the agreement earlier in 2016 as well and delivered 900+ kms of fiber infrastructure to Telenor Pakistan.

Dr. Daniel Ritz, President & CEO PTCL said that they were delighted to sign another agreement with Telenor Pakistan and it was the 2nd year in succession for provision of PTCL’S fiber optic network. He added that PTCL has served as country’s backbone since its inception and the partnership with Telenor Pakistan would further help them expand the 3G and 4G network to provide high quality services of voice and data.

Mr. Irfan Wahab Khan, CEO Telenor Pakistan said that they needed robust infrastructure that PTCL has provided, the fiber leasing agreement is in line with Telenor’s needs for traffic expansion regarding 3G and 4G network advancement. He added that their mission is to empower societies and make mobile broadband services available to a larger customer base.

Senior managers from both companies attended the ceremony, including – Sikandar Naqi, Chief Business Development Officer PTCL, Taimur Qadar Khattak, Acting Chief Financial Officer PTCL, Kamal Ahmed, Chief Digital Services Officer PTCL, Khurram Ashfaq, Chief Technology Officer TP and Bilal Waqar, Head of Sourcing & Supply Chain TP.

The senior management from the two companies emphasized the need for deployment of cost-effective solutions which will enable delivery of quality telecommunication services for the Pakistani market. This partnership will go a long way in paving a bright future for both the stakeholders’ involved.
