3G and 4G services in Gilgit–Baltistan

In a report on Saturday by Radio Pakistan, it was announced that Special Communication Organization (SCO) has fulfilled the need of 3G and 4G Services in Gilgit–Baltistan. The residents will now have access to internet services at the much faster rate and this would boast various venues of business and communication sought in the region from a long time.

The news was also confirmed by source person of SCO and it was informed that the service will be available for trials at the moment and can be utilized free of cost until regularized.

SCO has specific franchise across different areas in the north to facilitate tourist to stay connected to their loved ones, as other operators won’t work at heights. SCO SIMs for 3G and 4G Services in Gilgit–Baltistan can be acquired from respective franchises.

The purchase of SIM will cost Rs.200 and subscribers are cautioned n0t to pay more than the stated amount, report on Radio Pakistan stated.

The SCO was brought into effect by the government in 1976, and its function is to determine, develop and sustain telecommunication services in the remote and high altitude areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

It was announced last year in October that Pakistan telecommunication authority (PTA) has planned to provide access to fast internet services to residents of Gilgit-Baltistan and the proposed planning was supposed to be put into effect from Feb this year.
