UN vote on Jerusalem, Trump’s statement declared ‘Null and Void’

UN vote on Jerusalem, Trump’s statement declared ‘Null and Void’Amid strong criticism and sheer disgruntle from across the globe, it was finally a big win for Palestinian people, suppressed by Israeli Occupations. Recently, US president Donald Trump in his statement, called out for making Jerusalem Israeli Capital. This sparked serious debate and steered stern backlash from Muslim states in particular and other’s in general.

It was on Thursday when, 128/9 votes marked a decisive landmark rejection of Trump’s Statement in United Nations General Assembly and was called null and void.

Thirty five countries abstained from voting while, 21 others didn’t attend.

9 countries that were in favor of this statement from US president were, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Togo, Honduras, Guatemala and Marsha Island. Beside, Israel and USA.

Countries that abstained from voting were: Antigua-Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Benin, Bhutan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Cameroon, Canada, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Fiji, Haiti, Hungary, Jamaica, Kiribati, Latvia, Lesotho, Malawi, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Rwanda, Solomon Islands, South Sudan, Trinidad-Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, and Vanuatu.

The resolution was floated in the assembly for voting because earlier US had exercised its veto on the cause in Security Council of UN.

In eye of this absolute repatriation of their take, US ambassador Nikki Haley on addressing the UN vote on Jerusalem said, US shall remember this day and we will have embassy in Jerusalem as the resolution will make no impact on that. She also added that, this will matter as how we look at UN and those who rejected our stance.

If we are contributing to the cause of UN, we shall also be duly regarded and our stance being acknowledged.

Earlier US president Donald trump has threatened the countries who will back the resolution against US. His views were taken very harshly by countries that later went against him and out rightly rejected his notion of making Jerusalem as Israeli capital.
