Lowari Tunnel InauguratedLowari Tunnel inaugurated by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is an 8.5 km long, all-weather tunnel.

The tunnel will connect Chitral with the rest of the country. It is located at the National Highway (N-45) that connects Mardan, Nowshera, Malakand, Chitral and Chakdara.

The project consists of two tunnels expanded at 8.5km and 1.9km, along with access roads and 12 bridges, each of which is to be 35km long.

The locals had been demanding the construction of Lowari Tunnel since long.

The project is focused and expected to increase economic growth through speedy trade activity, generate employment opportunities for the locals, promote tourism and reduce travel time for passengers of commercial traffic.

The Lowari Tunnel project’s PC-I cost is Rs. 27 billion.
