In a row over unlicensed Voice over internet protocol calls, Skype Blocked in UAE.

The internet service providers, ISP’s have blocked the access to Skype in UAE and Qatar. The two telecom service providers, Etisalat and Du have confirmed this news.

Skype also has confirmed the news that it is no more able to deliver services in UAE and also Qatar. Users will be unable to use Skype app in these countries.

This issue has already been in discussion and some stakeholders were of the view to abolish restriction on skype and also Skype for their free call services.

Late in 2013, Saudi Arabia had blocked Whatsapp, Skype, and Viber as they were not meeting criteria. But a few months ago in September, it has decided to lift the restriction from all of them.

Recently Skype app is also struggling in China after being removed from app stores. It was blacklisted and later confirmed by an official that due to non-compliance with the law many Voice over internet protocol apps has been banned. But it is still unknown that what compliance it has failed to meet.
