Samsung has announced a new tablet for the budget-conscious audience with the new Tab 3 Lite. The cheaper version of the already-cheap original Tab 3 comes with a 7″ display, dual-core processor and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

The display comes with a mediocre resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels (welcome back 2011). The tablet is also quite mediocre in terms of looks and aesthetics, as is usual with products at this price point.

Underneath, a 1.2Ghz dual-core processor can be found, alongside 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, microUSB, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.

Towards the back lies a 2 megapixel camera. There’s no secondary camera on the front, which we think is more important in tablets. A 3600 mAh battery powers the unit. Here are the specs in detail:

Android 4.2 Jelly Bean customized with Touchwiz UI

7″ display with resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels

9.7mm thin

310g heavy

1.2Ghz dual-core processor

1 GB RAM with 8 GB internal storage

Wi-Fi, microUSB, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, microSD

2 megapixel rear-camera

3600 mAh battery

50 GB free Dropbox storage

Pricing details aren’t known yet but we can only recommend it if it’s put up on retail for very cheap. If budget is still your priority, then we recommend that you check out options like the original Nexus 7 or Samsung’s own Galaxy Tab 3.
