Former DG of PTA Sentenced with Seven Years Imprisonment and Rs. 70 Million in Fine

Pakistan News: The former Director General (DG) Finance Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Imran Ahmad Zubairi was recently sentenced with 7 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 70 million for pilferage of Rs.80.175 million, by the Accountability Court (AC), Islamabad. According to sources Mr. Zubairi had been illegally transferring payments collected from telecom operators to his own personal accounts disguised by different names, spawning great loss to the national treasury. Earlier Zubairi evaded to the US where he was arrested in March, 2011 with the help of Interpol.
